GeoHealth Innovations Delivers Geospatial Presentation at APHA

GeoHealth Innovations delivered a presentation titled “The Virginia Rural Health Data Portal” at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The data portal presentation was conducted in cooperation with the Virginia Rural Health Resource Center, and demonstrated geospatial and statistical base components and phase II enhancements. The data portal is the most comprehensive online source for health and social determinant data in the Commonwealth of Virginia. GeoHealth Innovations Presents the Progress of the Virginia Rural Health Data Portal at ESRI Health

GeoHealth Innovations delivered a presentation titled “The Virginia Rural Health Data Portal: Phase II” at the ESRI Health Conference in Washington, DC. ESRI Health is the largest meeting of GIS health application users in the world. The data portal presentation was conducted in cooperation with the Virginia Rural Health Resource Center, and demonstrated geospatial and statistical enhancements completed during early 2011. The data portal is the most comprehensive online source for health and social determinant data in the Commonwealth of Virginia. GeoHealth Innovations attends congressional briefing on “Place Matters for Health” in Washington, DC

GeoHealth Innovations attended a congressional briefing on “Place Matters for Health” at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC. The briefing a) explored how communities shape health outcomes, b) shared research findings from work in several communities, and c) examined how policy strategies and community-oriented solutions can lead to significant gains in health outcomes. GeoHealth Innovations has been the geospatial analysis partner for the Place Matters initiative, with the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies being the primary investigator. GeoHealth Innovations announces receipt of Eastern Virginia Medical School grant

GeoHealth Innovations announced that it was awarded a grant with Eastern Virginia Medical School (www.evms.edu) to conduct predictive modeling of health outcomes and social determinants of health in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. Models will be developed that identify where changes in health outcomes will have influence on social determinants, and vice versa. This is part of a larger effort within the region to tie public health to economic development. Research will be completed by August 2011.

GeoHealth Innovations delivers presentation to the Virginia Asthma Coalition in Norfolk

GeoHealth Innovations delivered a presentation at the quarterly meeting of the Eastern Virginia Asthma Coalition (VAC) in Norfolk. Steve Sedlock, founder and executive director of GeoHealth Innovations, presented on “Geospatial Analysis of Outpatient and Inpatient Asthma Incidence in Virginia: An Overview Using Health Outcome Data”. GeoHealth Innovations and the Virginia Department of Health conducted the first-ever cluster analysis of asthma outcome data in Virginia, and applied additional geospatial analysis tools to focus areas in the Tidewater and Southwest Virginia regions.
